Frequently Asked Questions

Question:

What Is a Virtual Assistant?

Answer:

Simply, VAs are independent contractors who provide specialized business services from outside your office. VAs may be sole practitioners or have a staff. VAs don't so much work "for" you, as "with" you, often developing a very close collaborative partnership.

Virtual Assistants (VAs) also provide professional administrative, creative, managerial, technical, business office and/or personal support services. VAs use the most advanced means of communication, and the newest and most efficient and time saving office products and work delivery, regardless of geographic boundaries. Virtual Assistants work from their own offices, on a contractual basis, and abide by an established Code of Ethics requiring integrity, honesty and due diligence.

Question:

What is the difference between a VA and a REVA?

Answer:

A virtual assistant offers a variety of services to many different industries where a real estate virtual assistant offers you the knowledge and experience of working in real estate and has the background to assist you in the areas that a real estate agent needs.

Question:

How do I know when I have found the right REVA for me?

Answer:

This is the due diligence process.  You will want to discuss your needs with the prospective REVA to determine if there is a match in personality, knowledge and experience.

Ask for references, samples of work and make sure to read the information provided on the REVAs website to get a better understanding of what the REVA can do for you.

Question:

Does location matter?

Answer:

No, location is not a issue when it comes to working with a REVA.  That is one of the benefits of using a REVA.  Location does not matter, but having the REVA located in the USA is very important since the REVA will understand the real estate process, laws for your state, and the communication process is not a factor.

Question:

Do I need to hire a licensed or non-licensed REVA?

Answer:

This depends on what services you need the REVA to perform. It is not a requirement to have your REVA to have a license, but you should consult your state laws before proceeding or have your REVA check what your state requires.  It really depends on what tasks your REVA will be handling.

Question:

What does a REVA charge?

Answer:

When looking to bring a REVA into your business you need to keep in mind this is not an on-site assistant.  You do not have the same costs with a REVA.  You are hiring an independent contractor and therefore you are not paying taxes, insurance, vacation, office space, equipment costs, or down-time.

So, keep an open mind when discussing the fee.  Most REVAs charge an hourly rate and will offer a retainer depending on the amount of hours you need per month.

You can expect to pay anywhere from $30.00 to $60.00 per hour for the experience of a REVA.  Keep in mind you are paying actual time on tasks,  so you may not require the same amount of hours as you would an on-site assistant.

Question:

What should you expect when you make the decision to hire a REVA?

Answer: Once you make the positive move to having a REVA on your team, you can expect to sign a Client/REVA agreement.  Ask the REVA what the agreement consists of and make sure you read it carefully.

You will need to have a plan of action.  Communication is key with your REVA.  There will be sensitive information the REVA will need to assist you effectively.  Make sure you sign a confidentiality agreement with her.

Question:

Will my REVA have the option to work with other agents in my market?

Answer: This is up to you.  You can request that the REVA not work with another agent in your market, but most REVAs already offer this to you.

Question:

How many hours should I hire a REVA per month?

Answer: This depends on the services you would like your REVA to be responsible for.  You and the REVA need to discuss the estimated time it will take per task and then set the hours accordingly.

You also need to know what your budget will allow.  So take this into consideration.

Question:

How long can I expect the agreement to last?

Answer: Most REVAs have a month-to-month agreement with their clients, but you need to ask the REVA specifically how long the agreement is.

In most cases it is customary to give your REVA at least 2 weeks notice if you are not needing their services any further.  This allows the REVA to close your files and to open up to offer their services to other agents.
